    Black Boys Empowerment 2022

    The Black Boys Empowerment Workshop was the first of its kind at Longwood.  The goal of the workshop was to instill Black pride, power, and respect amongst our young boys all while building community.  This year's workshop had two themes: Knowing Your Worth and More Than An Athlete.  A local barber, and entrepreneur, was invited to talk about his experience growing up Black, discuss owning his own business, as well as give free haircuts to our students.  Session two was our More Than An Athlete section.  A Chabot College basketball student-athlete discussed breaking stereotypes,  acknowledging the power of your voice beyond the sports field, and asking for help.
